“Bring on the rain…”
April 2010

After a very strange March, the weather has settled back down and is giving us a very beautiful and warm (ish) spring! Now all we are waiting for is rain to green things up! Abby and Bailey are growing like weeds and adjusting well to life on the farm. Their first visit to the vet went fine and all is well with the little girls. Well, except for the crazies… they have the crazies for sure – tearing through the gardens at 100 miles an hour is making us rethink our new landscaping plans…

April saw a change of something more than scenery… Client Heather Keeping has finished her time at Queens University and has moved her horse Tintin back home to Nova Scotia where she will embark on her career. We wish her and Tintin the best of luck as they take their first crack at the Prix St George this summer!  Taking their place in the barn will be Gail Simmons and Laurel Cole and their horse "Early Bird" who will begin training in May and be joining us for the 2010 show season.

“We come from the land of the ice and snow…”
February 2010

The winter winds and cold snaps are raging here along the St Laurence this February and all we can say is thank God for long underwear! Despite the cold we are in full training mode here at Stonecreek, preparing our horses for the 2010 season… We have been following our Canadian riders down in Florida with immeasurable pride and, lets be honest, jealousy… Many of our friends and coaches are dancing down in the sun and, while we wish you the best of luck, we can’t help but hope you will get just a little bit sunburned. *wink*

Interestingly enough; we experienced a massive thaw at the end of January and, as a result, many of our horses are now being turned out on grass fields in the middle of February in Ontario! Totto, I don’t think we’re in Canada anymore…

Abby and Bailey continue to grow. Helped along by their big uncle Boomer they have started exploring new parts of the farm and even went for a romp in the indoor arena!

We are all counting down the days to the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and wish all of our athletes the best of luck! GO CANADA GO!

As a final note; a very big congratulations are due to friends and clients Bryston Cawley and Rachelle Ramey who welcomed their second daughter Jada on January 28th!! We are sure she will soon join her little sister Chloe on her many excursions to the farm to visit the horses!

“A change is gonna come…”
January 2010

The new year rang in clear and bright with many changes here at Stonecreek Farm!

With December comes holidays, presents, cozy days in front of the fire and an over-indulgence of treats… but no more! January 1st = back to work!!

Obviously, we have a new website! Welcome to stonecreekfarm.ca! This new site is more detailed and will be updated regularly to ensure a consistent flow of information about the goings on here on the farm!

We have also welcomed two new members to our massive menagerie; Abby and Bailey! Little Boxer puppy sisters! They have nestled right in along side their big brother Boomer the Boxer (who is actually their cousin, bought from the same breeder 3 years ago) and their big sister Libby the Jack Russel (though technically she is their little sister, seeing as she’s already only half their size…).

So cheers to 2010! We wish all our clients, friends and fellow competitors a safe and happy new year!
